to Giveaway Some Chocolate and Scissor Cut Your Way To Cold Call Success! by Mr. Cold Call
For those
of us who cold call in-person we all know how difficult this dreaded task can
be. There are many creative ways,
however, to make this form of sales prospecting (specifically business to
business prospecting) not only fun, but even more effective or
results-driven. Wait a minute! Just one minute, do you know what time it
is? It’s time to talk about coupons,
coupons and more coupons. What in the
world are we talking about here? We’re
talking about good old fashioned coupons!
Yes, coupons! We often cut coupons out the paper or use an online promotional coupon code and we do this usually to get
something in return and the return most of the time is a money savings offer!
Why not
open your prospect’s door, smile as you enter and greet the receptionist with the
following opening line:
“Hi, (First
name of receptionist), my name is (Your name) and I’m a (List your profession)
from (Your company name). Our office is down the street and I
was just stopping by to introduce myself and give you three gifts on behalf of our
company. The receptionist will respond,
“Oh really?" You then reply, “Before, I
give you my first gift how many employees work here?” Once you hear their response to the number of employees (this is key
because now you know how large their company is and how many employees are in
the office) you then pull out “X-amount of chocolate bars” from your business
suitcase and then say, “Here’s your first gift.”
The
receptionist will say thank you and then you say, “Are you ready for the second
and third gifts?” You proceed to pull
out a toy scissors with an 8x11 special offer coupon flyer (Your art department could
probably put this flyer together for you. Try to come up with a special offer coupon that is time sensitive and that inspires your prospect to take action) smile and then say, “These two gifts
are for (Name of your business prospect)?”
This is a great idea to make your door-to-door business prospecting fun. Such creative thinking puts an immediate smile on the receptionist’s face and all the employees will appreciate your chocolate gift--who doesn't like chocolate? And finally, your business prospect may even use their new gift, take action and cut out your coupon! So, what are you waiting for? What's your best offer?
