Really Tired of Going to Business Networking Events to Drum up Sales? What About Networking Within Your Existing Client
Base Instead?

There are
an infinite number of business networking events that you can attend in your
local area. Some take place in the
morning, some take place during lunch and unfortunately, some take place after
work. Personally, I’m just so busy, who
really has the time? I’m sure there are
a select few who absolutely don’t agree with me and that’s ok. I really don’t care because I’m not writing
this article for you, but rather, I’m writing this article for those who really
dread going to networking events.
Don’t get
me wrong, I think networking is an important activity, but I’d rather network
within my client base instead. Is it
possible to get business this way?
Absolutely! And the best part
about this whole idea is you don’t have to take time out of your day to attend
networking events after work hours when in reality you’d rather be home
watching your favorite tv show, spending time with your family or working on a
business idea outside of your job.
How do you
get started? Let’s first understand the
basics of what it takes to be successful at networking events. If you go to a networking event and hand out
your business card like the sample guy at your local supermarket then you will
get very little if any results. However,
if you attend the networking event with the mindset of helping others then
you’ve just added gravity to the equation.
Zig Ziglar
once said, “You can have everything in life you want, if you
will just help other people get what they want.” Those who go to
networking events get the best results when they try to help others get what
they want. Now that we have established
what method of success works the best at networking events then we need to
apply this mindset to the method of networking that I’m directing us towards.
As you make
cold calls and build long-term relationship with your clients try to network
your clients together. So for example,
let’s you work with a personal injury attorney and you also have a client that
owns a towing company. Guess what? That’s a perfect combination. What do towing companies do? They tow cars that have just gotten into
accidents and those accidents are of interest personal injury attorneys. The more you network and match up clients
that compliment each other then the more you will find that you’re getting
business from them! So stop attending
networking events, start cold calling and start networking within your client
base!
