Don't Give Up When Your Prospect Says, "I'm Not Interested." by Mr. Cold Call
One
common sales objection that you may hear your prospect say is, "I'm not
interested!" Unfortunately, some salespeople will hear this objection much more often than some of their peers. The validity of this statement is in direct
correlation to one’s sales experience. The more experience that you have in
sales then the less likely you will hear this objection.
Because there are so many factors that may cause a prospect to respond in such
a way, let's focus our attention rather on what we can say after you hear this famous objection. In response to this objection, many salespeople give
up and quickly move on to their next prospect. Instead of just giving up,
why not earn your prospect’s trust by leaving them with something to remember
you by and then following up when you say that you will follow up?
In
response to your prospect's objection you can try using this example below:
“(First
name of prospect), I understand that you are not interested, but in the future,
you may come across a situation with (Name of competition) in which you are not
pleased with their customer service? Or
you may find out that they over promised something to you and then under
delivered? How about I follow up (Day,
date and time) to set up an appointment at your office so that we can go over
what we can do for you? At least when I
do follow up on (Day, date and time) you will be assured that you can depend on
me, does this work for you?"
Since
your sales prospects are successful business professionals they will respect
the fact that you do not give up. After
all, they did not get to where they are because they were reactive, but they
got to where they are right now because they were and still are proactive! Once your prospect responds with this type of
objection they really do expect that you will not call them back. But, when you do follow up with them on the
exact day, date and time that you said that you would then you have now
exceeded their expectations. And as a
result of your tenacity, you may even get business from them!
