thinks about all day long.” This famous
quote means that our perception and interaction with our world each day is
defined by our thoughts. If our thoughts are focused on worry then our
perceptions and interactions with our world will be organized in that
matter. Everything that we do each and
every day is the result or is in response of these worrisome thoughts.
In fact,
these thoughts can cloud our judgment and subconsciously direct us down a road
of complete pessimism. The most
important result of these thoughts is the effect that they may have on our cold
calls. These worrisome thoughts may
affect the following:
- Our voice
and how confident we sound over the telephone
- How you ask
questions
- The quality
of the questions that you ask
- You may come
across evasive
- You lack
enthusiasm in what you say and what you are selling
Once we
learn how to reduce worry our cold calls will be more effective and we will
close more sales. How do you clear your
mind from worry? First, it’s important
to know that we will never eliminate worry.
Worry is part of being a human being.
Worry, however, can be reduced significantly and below are several
practical ideas that you can use to make worry more uncommon than common:
Realize That What We Worry About
Today Will Always Be Replaced By Another Worry Tomorrow
Our
thoughts and what we think about one day can easily be replaced by what enters
our world the next day. We need to think
of worry as a temporary situation in our life. When we become aware of this concept we will
be better able manage what we think about daily
What’s The Worst That Can Happen?
When worry
enters our mind it’s important to think to yourself, “What’s the worst possible
scenario?” For example, let’s say you
recently bought a new car. Then the next
day your mind becomes clouded with worry.
What’s the worst that can happen in this situation? Well, if you can’t pay for your car then you
will lose the car and your credit gets screwed up. In the long-term, both of these results can
be fixed.
Reinforce Your Positive Thoughts
With Motivation
If you are
in your car a lot then this idea is even more valuable. Have you thought about listening to
motivational audio tapes to reinforce your positive thoughts? These tapes can be about any self-improvement
subject. The point here is the more you
listen to these tapes, the more you will be able to manage your thoughts and
attitude.
Seek Out Former Worriers
If you
worried about something then find someone who has had a similar
experience. If you are worried about
your credit score and how it may affect your home purchase then find someone
who may have gone through that same experience.
When you seek out others with similar backgrounds you can find a sense
of comfort. This comfort will help you
to manage your worry.
Whichever
idea you incorporate into your life to reduce worry it doesn’t matter. As long as you take a proactive approach and
take some kind of action to manage worry then you can empower yourself to free
your mind of worry. The end result will
be more effective cold calls and more closed sales!
