How Can Hollywood Help You To Remember Your Prospect's Name? by Mr. Cold Call
How often does this scenario below happen to you?
You: "Hi, I’m (Your name here) and your name is?"
Prospect: "My name is (Your prospect's name), nice to meet you!"
A few minutes into your conversation with your prospect you soon realize that you don’t even remember their name? How often has this happened to you? Or, what if you do remember their name, but then the next time you see them you forget it? How often has this happened to you? Why does this happen?
Here are some potential reasons why we forget our prospect’s name:
We focus on what we will ask our prospect next and conveniently forget their name.
The excessive amount of prospects that we meet and speak with on a daily basis.
The amount of information each of us are asked to "mentally digest" each day may have an affect on whether or not we remember our prospect’s name.
What can you do to remember your prospect’s name? One of the best ways to remember your prospect’s name is by "making associations." As human beings we use our life experiences to make "associations" to organize and validate our thoughts. In addition, we even use "associations" when we make everyday decisions. How can we use this concept to remember our prospect’s name?
A great way to instantly remember your prospect’s name is to "associate" your prospect with a known celebrity. For example, if your prospect resembles a certain movie star then you need to make that association in your mind so that you remember their name. Or another example, if your prospect’s name is "Harrison" then you can associate your prospect with Harrison Ford. A final example would be if your prospect has a similar last name to a movie star. Each of these three examples will help you to remember your prospect’s name. The only way to find out if this idea works is to try it! What are you waiting for?
