How do you handle a prospect that does a 360 on you? by Mr. Cold Call
Has the following sequence of events ever happened to you?
- You leave a message for a sales prospect.
- Your prospect calls you back.
- You speak with your prospect on
the telephone and begin to ask them a series of questions.
- After really engaging your
prospect a need is uncovered.
- Your prospect begins to engage you
with a slew of questions and requests additional information from you.
- You arrange a follow-up telephone
call to review the information with them.
- On the day and time that you had
scheduled a follow-up call you find that your prospect is not there?
- You decide to leave a message for
your prospect.
- A week goes by and you don’t hear
back from them?
- Two weeks go by and your prospect
doesn’t even return your messages?
These series of events may not be common, but they do
happen. Below are two voicemails that
you could use to receive immediate callbacks from your prospects:
Voicemail 1:
(First name of prospect), I’ve left many messages for you. This is (your name) calling from (your
company) and at this point, I’ll just assume that you’re not interested and
that’s ok! Maybe you’re too busy to
speak with me or maybe you never ever got my voice mail messages at all? Once again, whichever or whatever might be the case--that’s ok too! Though, I would like
to leave the door wide open here, so if you do want to continue this dialogue then
at any point feel free to pick up your phone and dial (insert your number). Thank you for your time and I’m hoping that
we can speak again in the near future.
Voicemail 2:
(First name of prospect), when we first spoke, this is (your
name) from (your company), you had expressed interest in (the name of your
product or service) and based on our conversation and per your request, I
forwarded a proposal to your office. We
agreed to speak again on (insert the day, date and time here) and I called and
left a message. You may have forgotten
about our call, so as of right now, I’ll just assume that at this point in time you have no
interest. If you did want to speak again, which I hope is the case, just give me a ring at (insert your number) and at your convenience we can reschedule
a new telephone call to discuss the proposal that was previously sent to
you. Thank you again for your time.
